Brow Lift Surgery
Brow lift, as its name is clear, is a surgical operation performed to improve the form of sagging eyebrows and the image of the forehead area affected by them.
It usually gives good results in people with droopy eyebrows and hooded eyes. It can be applied together with Eyelid surgery and some Facelift surgeries, as well as these operations, can be applied instead of the Brow Lift.
“Is the Brow Lift helpful?” is often asked by people. Genetics, lifestyle, general health of the patient, sunlight, and even gravity affect human skin and mostly they affect together on it. Concerning this surgery, it can be said that it's the most ideal choice to remove wrinkles, especially in the upper part of the face.
Brow Lift surgery can also be performed in conjunction with other procedures such as Eyelid lift, Facelift, and fat transfer.
Brow Lift Surgery: Procedure
There are 3 methods of rejuvenating the eyebrow and the area surrounding it: Classical stretching, endoscopic stretching, and a limited incision method. The duration of brow lift surgeries varies between 1 and 3 hours on average.
Also called "open brow lift", the classic stretching method involves an incision across the top of the head, from one ear to the other. The surgeon may want the incision to follow the anterior hairline. If the patient's hair is long and will interfere with the procedure, it may need to be trimmed. If the patient has short hair, she/he may want to lengthen it to cover the scar.
The endoscopic brow lift is applied with a few tiny incisions on the scalp. A scope is inserted into one of the incisions to view the tissue and muscles on the screen. At that time, the surgeon makes the necessary changes by using the second device placed through another incision. In this procedure, the tissue is fixed under the scalp with either a temporary or permanent suture. This procedure is less invasive as the incisions are small. Therefore, scars are limited and recovery time is short.
The limited incision technique is a combination of the other two methods. Smaller incisions are made. The procedure does not improve the middle of the forehead but reduces the crow's feet in the corners of the eyes.
Brow Lift Surgery: Recovery
The recovery process after brow lift surgery may vary depending on which method was applied. The sutures in the incisions are usually removed within a week. If there are temporary fixing screws, they are also removed in about two weeks.
Swelling and bruises may be seen in some parts of the face, especially in the cheeks and eyes of the patient. For at least two days after surgery, the patient should keep their head elevated. Cold packs help prevent swelling.
Bandages can also be removed after the 3rd day. It is natural to experience a slight numbness or tingling during this process, there should be no worries.
Brow lift does not have a very painful process. Slight pain may be experienced with temporary bruising and swelling after the surgery.
It is possible to prolong the effects of brow lift surgery by having a healthy lifestyle, but aging cannot be prevented.
The cost of brow lift surgery varies depending on the scope of the surgery, the experience of the surgeon, and the additional procedures performed.
